Plant Age in Relation to the Resistance of Nicotiana to the Green Peach Aphid12

Abstract
Toxicity of resistant varieties of tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum L., and N. benthamiana Domin to Myzus persicae (Sulzer) increased as the plants matured. This paralleled an increase in the amount of the exudates on certain trichomes of these plants. Because of the lack of toxicity of seedling and young plants, older plants should be used in screening tests for this type of resistance to the green peach aphid.
