Abstract
The gradual merger as a function of temperature of two Van Hove critical points of the same phonon band can give rise to a stronger singularity in . This leads to an anomaly in typical of second-order phase transition. The phenomenon of leveling off of phonon bands can be observed in the case of -brass.
