Abstract
Cattle rumen bacteria were fractionated by utilizing the attaching ability of the bacteria to starch particles and were analyzed after elution of the starch granules. Environmental factors affecting attachment of the starch were investigated. The most characteristic properties of the attached bacteria were their amylase and urease activities. The actual role of the bacteria apt to attach to starch in the rumen in situ is discussed. This technique may be useful for the study of the rumen microbial ecosystem. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
