Abstract
The results of experiments on the effect of high pressures of oxygen on apples are outlined. It is shown that partial pressures of the order of 500 per cent, oxygen are toxic to the tissues and that there is no evidence of an initial increase in CO 2 , output over that in 1 atmosphere 100 per cent, oxygen. It is further shown that the actual pressure (up to 20 atmospheres) is not responsible for the disorganization of the cells but that there is specific oxygen toxicity. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
