Abstract
The resonance energies of polyacenes were determined on the basis of the additive principle of π-bond energies in nonaromatic compounds. The additive components in the total π-energies for these compounds were reasonably estimated from the infinitely large polyacene. The calculated resonance energies appear to be much improved as compared with those calculated by Hess and Schaad. Keywords
