Abstract
Gradual changes in academic programs for career oriented instruction have produced important pedagogical questions. Researchers attempting to answer the questions have based their research on the wrong assumptions. This research asked a different audience about “trouble” instead of “importance,” and used language familiar in the business community with dramatically different results. Based on this research, tentative conclusions may be drawn about what communication skills we should teach career oriented students.
