Abstract
Paper chromatographic examinations demonstrated that the stimulant properties of crude prepns. of the Striga germination factor may be due to a complex of substances. Using a n-butanol-acetic acid-water mixture as solvent, the most active component of the complex is located immediately behind the solvent front and is not a simple sugar or an amino acid. Chromatography on columns of cellulose was applied to the purification of larger quantities of the concentrates to yield resinous products with high biological activity. Keywords
