Bistatic radar measurements of ice-cloud reflectivities in the upper troposphere

Abstract
Results of 15.7 GHz bistatic radar measurements of scattering from ice clouds are presented and the vertical profiles of the reflectivity factor exceeded for small percentages of time inferred. The results have implications for terrestrial and earth-space communications systems sharing frequency bands above 10GHz and for earth-space systems utilising orthogonal polarisations to increase capacity.
