Abstract
A simple model is presented as the basis for explaining the equations that describe the isotropic shift for paramagnetic molecules in solution. The simplest case is that of an axially symmetric molecule for which the Curie Law is valid and for which zero field splitting and second‐order Zeeman effects are small. It is used as a point of departure for considering the many underlying factors that affect observation of NMR resonances in paramagnetic molecules. Keywords
