Abstract
Within a rather general framework for confined quarks in a baryon, we derive an approximate expression for the effective quark masses and quark magnetic moments. Use of the additive quark model with the spin-flavor SU(6) wave functions may be justified for the relativistic quarks and lead to a good agreement between theory and experiment for the baryon magnetic moments. Keywords
