Abstract
Electronic books can be used to provide many new and novel possibilities for the creation of learning and training opportunities for people of all ages. However, because of the large volumes of pictorial, textual and sound material that they can contain, such books are particularly well‐suited to the needs of ‘early learners’–children who are acquiring or who have just acquired reading skills. This paper describes and discusses a development project that was recently undertaken in order to build a sophisticated hyper‐media electronic book for early learners. Keywords
