Abstract
The village of Arnnhyadhani (District Mandsour) with a total population of 195 was a highly endemic pocket with 40% (78 persons) infection. Statistically, infection rate was maximum at the modal age of 22.91 yr, after which it decreased. A positive skewness (0.50) supported this finding. A larger percentage of males (48.03%), with the infection taking place late, (23.69) yr, was infected in comparison to females (31.18%), who got the infection at an earlier (18 yr) age. Coefficient of variation (V) test showed that males were nearer the mean (V = 49.90 than females = 59.83). The proportion tests Z value was 2.69 (Rawat caste), which was greater than the standard value (1.96) at 5% level; evidently infection was significant on sex (males). Infection was dependent on caste (Rawat caste), a .chi.2 value of 27.654 was obtained.
