Developing a ‘standard’ for midwives for medically induced labour with prostaglandin prostaglandin E2 gel

Abstract
The concept of a midwifery development unit leads one to review the overall aim of the service provided by midwives with regard to quality. The setting of standards for particular spheres of practice is perhaps one approach, but it requires an ongoing programme of improvement to ensure that they express advances in science, economic consideration and individual expectations of care.
