Abstract
A 160 mc Po210 source was used for alpha particle activation of pure chemical compounds and biological material. The stable isotopes that were found able to activate to radionuclides in any appreciable extent were B10, F19, Na23, Mg25 and Al27, giving Nl3, Na22, Al26, Al28 and P30, respectively. The isotopic yields were between 0.2 and 2.2 per 106 alphas. Two biologic applications were studied: the measurement of Na in urine and the resorption of Al from the peritoneal cavity. Keywords
