Abstract
The electrical resistivity ρ of a zone−refined tungsten sample (residual resistivity ratio 7×104) was determined between 1100 and 2500 K. The error analysis indicates that the data are accurate to about 1%, and comparison of the results with other ρ data indicates that the error analysis may be somewhat pessimistic. The effects of thermionic charge transport on the ρ data and the performance of uninsulated W97Re3:W75Re25 thermocouples were also investigated. Comparison of the data with standard transport theory indicates that most of the nonlinear ρ behavior observed at high temperatures is due to thermal expansion effects.
