THE ENLARGED FORAMEN OVALE

Abstract
Well-defined smooth margins of an enlarged foramen ovale have been characteristically associated with fifth nerve neurinomas. We have shown similar changes in other entities such as chordoma, cylindroma, meningioma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The changes which suggest specific roentgenologic findings are discussed. A well-defined smooth margin of an enlarged foramen ovale may have an etiology other than a neurinoma of the fifth nerve.
