Abstract
A magnetic-dipole-active local mode has been observed in Mn: at 94.8 by means of far-infrared spectroscopic techniques. For a magnetic field parallel to the axis of the crystal, the absorption line shows a linear splitting. A factor of 2.3 is derived from the data.
