THE HARD FACTS OF THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL ON SERIOUS ROAD ACCIDENT CASUAUITES

Abstract
This paper reviews the hard facts that have been obtained in Australia and elsewhere concerning the Influence of alcohol In fatal and serious casualty road accidents. It is estimated that alcohol is responsible for between 40% and 50% of the fatalities and serious crippling injuries. It Is concluded that, as it has been established that alcohol constitutes half of the causes of the most serious epidemic which faces mankind In the developed countries, the public should be persuaded that stern countermeasures must be enacted, many of which will involve curtailment, to a degree, of the Individual's freedom when he takes advantage of the road systems in Australia.
