Abstract
A statistical thermodynamic theory is used to calculate the dissociation efficiency of SF6 by CO2 laser photons. The dissociation efficiency calculated with the model presented is compared to that calculated with two other statistical models, one a more sophisticated model (RRKM) and the other a very crude model. We find that the calculated dissociation efficiency is insensitive to the particular statistical model used. Keywords
