Abstract
Axisymmetric high Reynolds number flows in tubes of slowly varying radius are shown to be governed to a first approximation and in suitable co-ordinates by a partial differential equation which, in a particular case, allows solutions independent of the streamwise co-ordinate. The solutions of the resulting ordinary differential equation give flows with inflexion points in the velocity profiles and reversed flow in some cases. Keywords
