Abstract
Equations are derived for the calculation of the extent of self-association from ultraviolet absorption spectra. The spectra of a number of phenols and anilines have been taken over wide concentration ranges, and are discussed in terms of association. Association constants for four of the compounds have been calculated. An explanation of the spectral effects of self-association is offered. Keywords
