Abstract
In dairy barn studies at Savannah, Georgia, residual treatments of General Chemical compound 4072, diethyl 1-(2,4- dichlorophenyl)-2-chlorovinyl phosphate, gave excellent house fly, Musca domestica L., control for 16 weeks at 100 mg/ft2M, 11 to 12 weeks at 50 mg/fl2, 10 to 12 weeks at 20 and 25 mg/ft2, and 3 weeks at 10 mg/ft2. Deposits from emulsifiable concentrate and wettable powders were equally effective. Hooker Compound 1422, 3,5-diisopropylphenyl N-methylcarbamate, at 100 mg/ft2 formulated from an emulsifiable concentrate, gave excellent control for 7 weeks in a single dairy. Satisfactory control for the season was produced in 2 of 3 animal shelters treated with dichlorvos-resin strands installed at 30 linear feet per 100 ft2 of floor area. A DDT:synergist formulation (200:40 mg/ft2) was ineffective in the single dairy treated.
