Abstract
17 dogs were subjected to the intraperit, autolysis of detached segments of their own livers. Of 12 treated with penicillin in oil, only 3 died while all of the controls died. Segments of human liver placed within the peritoneal cavities of dogs resulted in the death of only 2 of 7 animals without penicillin treatment. Keywords
