Abstract
The global energy balance of collisional and semicollisional resistive modes is related term by term to the quadratic form derived from the linear dispersion equation. The partition of the released magnetic and electron pressure energy into dissipation, electron compression along field lines, and ion energy is explicitly discussed for internal kink modes, tearing modes, and resistive Alfvén modes. Keywords
