Abstract
As shown in older participants in the Ten‐State (U.S.A.) Nutrition Survey, there is at best a low order, barely significant relationship between daily calcium intake (mg/day) and metacarpal cortical area (CA) prior to partialling for caloric intake. This finding, based on 1435 subjects, does not support the assumption that adult bone loss is a product of low or inadequate intake of calcium. Keywords
