Abstract
Subcutaneous phenformin (100 mg/ kg) rapidly increases plasma glucose and insulin in rats. These changes have little apparent effect on the glucose lowering potential of phenformin in the presence of oral or iv glucose loading. These elevations, which can be partially blocked by MJ– 1999 and by adrenalectomy, are probably the result of adrenergic stimulation. (Endocrinology92: 326, 1973)Keywords
