Abstract
Important needs and concerns that relate to generalization in operational settings are discussed. Some background relating to this issue is discussed in order to indicate its centrality for the decision and management sciences. The discussion concludes with the requirements for and the benefits that can result from successful generalization within operational settings. Keywords
