Summary: It has been shown that vaccination of mice with a living attenuated culture of S. typhimurium results in the production of two types of immunoglobilins. The first phase of antibody production is characterised by a 19S macroglobulin response which disappears after about one month, to have the 7S type antibody which persists for at least six months. The importance of these observations in relation to cellular immunity is discussed.
