Abstract
A series of halogenated derivatives of phenylalanine, tyrosine and thyronine (except thyroxin) can be deaminated oxidatively by l-amino acid oxidase in borate buffer. The rate of appearance of the absorbing species (presumably the enol borate complex of the aromatic pyruvic acids) is increased upon addition of rat liver homogenates that contain tautomerase. Using pyruvate as acceptor, the same amino acids (except triiodothyronine and thyroxin) can be transaminated in borate buffer by a rat liver supernatant. Keywords
