Abstract
The study included 30 patients with chronic, stable plaque psoriasis. In each patient 7 comparable plaques were randomly chosen, and were treated with one of the following: hydrocolloid impermeable dressing (HCD) changed once a week; clobetasol propionate ointment applied once a day; clobetasol propionate solution occulded with HCD once a day; the same combination changed once a week; triamcinolon acetonide solution occluded with HCD once a week; UVB; and an untreated plaque as a control. The results show that occlusion with the HCD alone is effective in treating psoriatic plaques. The combination of clobetasol propionate or triamcinolone acetonide solution and HCD once a week were much more efficient, inducing remission of most psoriatic plaques in 2 weeks. For clobetasol propionate ointment and UVB this response was obtained after 6 weeks. (J Dermatol Treat (1992)3: 53–55)
