Abstract
On 23 February 1989 an apparent burst of ultra-high energy gamma-rays was observed from the direction of the Crab Nebula by the Baksan Air Shower Array. The result of checking and reanalysis of these data is reported. The excess in the number of events above background has a reduced statistical significance but this is compensated for by a phase analysis with respect to the Crab pulsar cycle which shows the excess to favour one phase bin. The agreement of the evidence from other arrays is discussed. Keywords
