Abstract
Ammoniumparatungstate tetrahydrate (NH 4 ) 10 [H 2 W 12 O 42 ] · 4H 2 O crystallizes in space group P 2 1 / n , a = 15.08, b = 14.45, c = 11.00 Å, β = 109.40°, Z = 2. The W atoms were located by a Patterson map, the lighter atoms (21 O, 5NH 4 + , 2H 2 O per asymmetric unit) by a ΔF map. Using anisotropic temperature factors for W and isotropic ones for the other atoms, the structure was refined to R = 6.7% for 3235 observed reflections (including 707 unobserved reflections: R = 6.8%). The O atoms of the anion [H 2 W 12 O 42 ] 10− are hexagonal closed packed, containing the W atoms in octahedral sites. The anion shows 2/ m pseudosymmetry. It consists of four groups of three edge-sharing WO 6 octahedra each. The non-acid protons are located in the inside of the anion near its center. The NH 4 + ions occupy similar sites at the surface of the anion as they were found for ammoniumparatungstate decahydrate.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
