Abstract
This study created a taxonomy of distinct combat stress reaction (CSR) manifestations and relates each of them to triggering battle events. A sample of 104 CSR casualties of the Lebanon War (in 1982) were interviewed by experienced clinicians 1 year after combat. Twenty-six separate CSR manifestations and nine battle events were extracted from the interviews. Factor analysis yielded six major CSR factors similar to those identified in previous clinical studies. It was found that particular battle events were significantly correlated with particular CSR factors. Clinical and theoretical implications are discussed. Keywords
