Vaginal Adenosis: Diagnosis by Palpation

Abstract
To the Editor: We read with interest the recent communication of Aldrich, Henderson and Townsend, "Diagnostic Procedures for the Stilbestrol-Adenosis-Carcinoma Syndrome,"1 but take exception to the statement that there is a single clinical picture of vaginal adenosis that is manifested as a "small, red area that is not inundated, is patchy and tender, and bleeds profusely when touched" and can be seen and biopsied under colposcopic guidance. At our institution three nulliparous patients, 20, 25 and 26 years of age, were found on careful digital examination to have small submucosal nodules with overlying intact vaginal epithelium located in the anterior, . . .
