Abstract
The results of a 2 yr survey of eye problems among the patients at the Palo Seco Hospital in the Canal Zone are presented. Only 2 patients, 1 with lepromatous leprosy and the other with the tuberculoid form of the disease, failed to exhibit ocular complications. The high prevalence of leprotic ocular disease (96%) is probably due to the advanced age of the patients, the lengthy duration of their illness and the high percentage of patients afflicted by the lepromatous form of the disease.
