Abstract
Automatic ecological cartography and its evaluation with parameters of the theory of information. — The present study considers a methodological experiment undertaken within a line of research into ecological cartography and territorial planning. Three solutions are described to represent the spatial interactions of a group of biological and physiographical variables. The data were collected from sample grids in Madrid Province and the territory is described through classification techniques and ecological indicators after identification. Different types of cartography were then employed to test a method for evaluating their synthetic and integrating capacity and the cartographic value of indicator variables, using information theory concepts.
