Abstract
One-dimensional paper chromatograms of leaf extracts from 14 species and progeny from 5 interspecific hybrids in the genus Collinsia were developed, using 2 different solvent systems, and did not indicate a taxonomic relation among the species nor e parentage of the progeny of the interspecific hybrids. The pattern of protein bands in acrylamide-gels obtained by electrophoresis of leaf extracts appeared to characterize 3 species but the patterns were not strikingly different for the other tested species. The parentage of progeny from interspecific hybrids could not be determined by patterns of protein bands.
