Abstract
The recovery of wt. and strength by skeletal muscle after reinnervation following reversible denervation was studied using the gastrocnemius muscle of the rat. Denervation times of 32 and 52 days were used and recovery was followed to 120 days after the last nerve crush. The rate of wt recovery was found to be a reaction of the first order. Strength recovery is proportional to wt recovery. The longer the period of denervation the slower was the recovery rate. Keywords
