Abstract
A study of hundreds of herbarium specimens from N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Africa identified mostly as U. hypodytes (Schlecht.) Fries by many prominent mycologists indicates that the name has been applied to a complex of smut fungi rather than a single species. According to the writer, the U. hypodytes complex embraces 4 spp. and 1 var., namely, U. spegazzini-Hirsch, U. spegazzinii var. agrestis (Syd.) comb. nov., U. williamsii (Griff.) Lavrov, U. halophila Speg., and U. numi mularia Speg. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
