Abstract
A heavy outbreak of the velvetbean caterpillar, Anticarsia gemmatilis, on peanuts occurred in se. Alabama in 1939. Application of 8 and 10 lbs. of Pb arsenate per acre gave an av. control of 91% without burning the foliage. The same amts. of Ca arsenate per acre averaged 89% control, but burned the foliage. Rotenone from timbo at strengths of 0.5% and 1% gave poor control.
