Abstract
Sixteen cases of sacrococcygeal tumors are reported including nine teratomas, two chordomas, two neurofibromas and three dermoid cysts. The etiology, diagnosis and surgical management of these lesions are discussed with reference to exposure and control of blood supply. The benign nature of most teratomas is emphasized, as is the necessity for early operation in infancy before malignant degeneration occurs. In most instances complete removal can be carried out without endangering important structures. Careful resection is usually cura-tive.Keywords
