Abstract
During the last two decades there has been a considerable increase in the application of scientific and engineering techniques to medicine and biology. Many devices requiring power have been invented for research or remedial purposes, and are in use in, on or around the body. This article reviews these power requirements, and describes the novel, as well as the more conventional, sources which are being applied or developed to meet them. Keywords
