Abstract
Interaction with polar neutral molecules can cause α-distonic radical cations and conventional molecular ions to interconvert in the gas phase, in spite of substantial energy barriers for the unassisted isomerization; the interconversion is particularly facile when the proton affinity of the neutral molecule is close to that of the deprotonated radical cation. Keywords
