Abstract
AUSCULTATION of the area over the arterial anastomotic site of a renal allograft, constructed typically by an end-to-end anastomosis of the recipient hypogastric artery to the donor renal artery, may reveal a systolic bruit in certain cases. The frequency of such a bruit and its implications have been evaluated in a prospective study of renal-allograft recipients. In the present study the finding of such a bruit in the absence of anemia, hypertension and a transmitted aortic bruit could usually be equated with excellent renal-allograft function.
