Abstract
All available data, including some as yet unpublished, concerning the mobility of SF6 ions in SF6 as the parent gas are critically reviewed. All mobilities can be attributed to one of the following five ions: SF+5, SF−5, SF−6, SF−6(SF6), and SF−6(SF6)2. Starting from the SF+5 ion, which represents the only complete data set over the whole E/n range, we found (9,6,4) potentials, which reproduce the measured mobilities of all ions very well. The potential parameters corresponding to the above mentioned sequence of ions are γ=0.660, 0.625, 0.683, 0.709, 0.753, and r0=4.0, 4.0, 4.05, 4.72, 5.03 Å, respectively. Keywords
