The preparation and characterisation of 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-diacyloxyditin(IV) compounds

Abstract
Reaction of hexamethylditin with haloacetic acids results in the production of 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-diacyloxyditin(IV) compounds in good yield. Infrared, Raman, 1H and 13C nmr, and 119Sn Mössbauer data have been interpreted in terms of a tetramethylditin species asymmetrically bridged by two acyloxy groups to give each tin a five-coordinate environment.
