Abstract
The effects of endotoxin and biogenic amines (e.g., histamine and serotonin) on the structure and function of the microcirculation are of the same type. There is, however, an important difference in the time of onset. Biogenic amines evoke immediate effects, whereas endotoxin has a lag period of 10 to 15 min. which coincides in time with degranulation of extra and intravascular granular cells. A tentative hypothesis of the possible interaction of these 2 kinds of substances is discussed. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
