Abstract
The transport processes of diffusion and heat flow in a nonreacting, nonelectrolyte fluid system are discussed in terms of the linear phenomenological equations without benefit of the Onsager reciprocal relations. The independent variables which determine the flow pattern, the operational significance of the phenomenological coefficients, and the inversion of the phenomenological equations are each considered. Keywords
