Abstract
Pause frequency and word length of speech sequences uttered without break (referred to as “phrases”) were measured, using speech produced under a variety of conditions. Several subjects were recorded in each condition. Individual differences as well as differences due to change of speech situation were highly significant. The significance of continuity in speech production is discussed in the light of the specific nature of these various differences. Keywords
