Abstract
Many properties of molecules in molecular crystals of hydrogen halides can be shown theoretically to deviate from those of free molecules because of charge‐transfer effects. These effects will be discussed in a series of papers. In this paper, the Raman scattering due to intermolecular vibrations is shown to be activated by this charge‐transfer process, which can explain the strong Raman scattering due to these intermolecular vibrations as observed by Ito et al.Keywords
